Words from the venues website:
Hendall is a private and discreetly positioned venue in the heart of the East Sussex countryside and is available for a wide range of events from weddings, receptions, corporate events, exhibitions, parties and creative workshops.
Hendall, which opened its doors in late 2011, is a beautiful and discreetly located private venue suitable for a wide range of uses and events.
We have now hosted numerous wedding receptions in our large and historic Stone Barn, as well as conferences, business meetings, charity events and many anniversary/birthday celebrations.
Together with our well-equipped Studio/Conference Room and Caterer’s Kitchen, Hendall has provided perfect space for creative, artistic and culinary courses as well as workshops and demonstrations.
The space we offer is ideal for locally run courses, or larger more corporate exhibitions.
The buildings are very special and surround a large south facing terrace and lawn providing a superb backdrop and layout for both intimate family gatherings and corporate entertaining.
An adjacent and very special 17th century barn also offers generous and beautiful self-catering accommodation.
We are also proud to say we have had a beautiful article written about us in Sussex Life, detailing the transformation we carried out, whilst renovating Hendall.
Many of the guests we cater for come from quite a distance as they hear such good things about us, including Kent, West Sussex, Surrey and South London.
If you are looking for somewhere a bit different, Hendall can provide a level of exclusivity and an outlet for your creativity, not easily found elsewhere. We would be delighted to discuss your requirements and show you around by appointment.
The Stone Barn
This impressive building is almost 100ft in length and is arranged on two distinct levels connected by steps and a ramp.
The upper half of the building, dating from the mid-1800’s, provides a large reception area in addition to the entrance. The slate flooring complements the sandstone and brick walls.
Here, as in the lower half of the building, there is under-floor heating and a variety of lighting options to suit all moods and occasions.
There are two large openings, formerly loading doors; one provides the main entrance and the other access to an extensive raised, and south-facing terrace, that is ideal for receptions on a sunny day or as a stage for performances.
The lower half of the building dates from the 17th century, with in-filled mullion windows and doorways set into its lovely rough sandstone walls. The tall vaulted roof and oak flooring provide ideal and well-proportioned space for comfortably seating up to 80 diners at round or rectangular tables. More can be seated if the upper level is used as well.
The comprehensive lighting incorporates pin lights that can be directed onto each table or into the stone recesses. A further ramp and archway lead into a servery and through to the caterer’s kitchen. The two large openings, allow plenty of light and one provides access directly onto the lawn.
Both halves of the building have floor boxes for power and data input. Ten ceiling speakers and the integrated sound system ensure that speeches, presentations and films can be easily made, shown and heard.
